An UPDATE on AUDITIONS!- October 27TH, 2014
Week 3 of Term 4 saw a busy week of lunchtime auditions! Out of 140 students that have already registered their interest to be involved in the Musical, 60 of these auditioned for lead roles! Tough competition! The panel of teachers were very impressed with the talent that performed in front of them and particularly at the effort that students had put into preparing their audition.
Students were asked to prepare 60 seconds of singing a song from a Musical and were asked to sing it in character. They were tested on their ability to sing in tune, project their voice and tell the story through their facial expressions and body language. They were then asked to perform 60 seconds of 'drama' and most students opted to act out the dialogue sheets provided of scenes from High School Musical. Students were asked which character they were trying out for and reminded that from this one audition they would be considered for all roles available!
Now comes the hard part- some roles have been decided but others havn't. Teachers will be informing students if they have a 'Call-back'. A call back is a second opportunity for you to impress. It is a chance for you to do some more singing, dancing and acting so that the teachers can be sure they pick the right student for the right part, and provides you an opportunity to show off more of your talent in a more relaxed atmosphere. Because, let's face it- auditions can be pretty daunting!
Dont worry if you dont get a call back, it does not mean you have missed out!
